Pronunciation Guide
The Pronunciation Guide lets you teach your AI receptionist how to say specific words or names. This is useful for business names, product names, proper nouns, or any term the AI might mispronounce.
Where to Find It
Go to the Overview page, select the Configure tab, expand the Tweak Advanced Settings section, and find the Pronunciation Guides card.
How It Works
Each pronunciation entry consists of two parts:
- Word -- The word or phrase as it is normally written (e.g., "New York")
- Pronunciation -- The phonetic spelling the AI should use (e.g., "/nju: 'jo:rk/")
The AI reads the phonetic version instead of the written word during calls.
Adding a Pronunciation
- In the pronunciation form, you will see fields for Word and Pronunciation.
- Enter the word in the Word field.
- Enter the phonetic pronunciation in the Pronunciation field.
- To add more entries, click Add Row.
- Click Save to submit your entries.
Auto-Generate with AI
You do not have to write phonetics by hand. After typing a word, click the robot icon next to the row. The system will auto-generate an IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) pronunciation for that word.
Listen Before Saving
Click the speaker icon next to either the Word or Pronunciation field to hear how the AI will say it. This lets you verify the pronunciation sounds correct before saving.
Phonetic Examples
Here are a few examples of IPA-format pronunciations:
| Word | Pronunciation |
|---|---|
| New York | /nju: 'jo:rk/ |
| Paris | /'perIs/ |
| Tokyo | /'to:.kio:/ |
Managing Existing Pronunciations
All saved pronunciations appear in a table below the form with three columns:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Word | The original word |
| Pronunciation | The phonetic version |
| Action | A delete button to remove the entry |
- Click the speaker icon in the Word or Pronunciation column to hear that value spoken aloud.
- Click the delete icon in the Action column to remove a pronunciation entry. This takes effect immediately.
Tips
- Use IPA notation for the most accurate results.
- Test pronunciations with the speaker icon before saving.
- If the auto-generated phonetic does not sound right, edit it manually and test again.
- You can add multiple entries at once by clicking Add Row for each new word, then saving them all together.
