Advanced Settings

Advanced settings give you fine-grained control over how your AI receptionist behaves, from the AI model it uses to call recording, voicemail, spam blocking, and more. Each setting can be configured independently by clicking on it.

Where to find it

Advanced settings are located on the Overview page of your receptionist dashboard, under the Tweak Advanced Settings section. Click any setting to open its configuration panel.

AI Model

Choose the AI model that powers your receptionist. Different models offer varying levels of capabilities and performance. The default model is pre-selected, but you can switch to another from the dropdown.

To change the model, click AI Model, select a model from the list, and click Save.

Extension Digits

Set up extension codes that your AI receptionist can recognize and use to route callers. For example, you can configure "press 3 for billing department" so the AI knows to transfer callers who press 3.

Click Extension Digits, then click View Details to open the Extension Digits Builder. From there you can add, edit, or remove extensions and their associated phone numbers.

Allow Voicemails

When enabled, callers can ask to leave a voicemail. The AI receptionist will collect the voicemail, and it will appear in your Voicemail logs separately from regular calls.

Click Allow Voicemails to toggle it on or off. The current status is shown as a badge (On or Off).

The voicemail prompt type and tone settings are in separate sections. The Voicemail Prompt Type dropdown lets you choose between a countdown prompt or a tone-based prompt. The Voicemail Tone selector (with "All Voicemail Tones" and "My Voicemail Tones" tabs) only appears when you select the tone-based prompt option.

Bulk Transfers

Upload unstructured rules for transferring calls in bulk. This is useful when you have many transfer rules that would be tedious to set up as individual call transfer workflows.

Example rule: "If the user wants to call John, transfer to +1 (233) 323-2324."

Click Bulk Transfers to open the configuration panel where you can add or edit transfer rules.

Record Calls

Control whether all voice calls your receptionist receives are recorded. Recorded calls are stored in your dashboard for review.

Click Record Calls to toggle call recording on or off. The current status is shown as a badge (On or Off).

Record Transferred Calls

This setting appears only when Record Calls is enabled. When turned on, both the AI interaction and the transferred portion of the call are recorded and combined into a single file for easy review.

Click Record Transferred Calls to toggle it on or off.

Call Memory

Control whether your AI receptionist uses CRM data (such as caller name and profile details) to personalize conversations. When turned off, the AI will not reference any CRM-based caller information.

Click Call Memory to toggle it on or off. The current status is shown as a badge (On or Off).

Ambient Background Noise

Enable ambient background noise -- such as room sounds or light keyboard typing -- so callers sense that a live receptionist is handling the call. This makes the experience feel more natural.

Click Ambient Background Noise to toggle it on or off. When enabled, you can adjust two sliders:

  • Background Room Ambience Sound -- Controls the volume of room ambience (0 to 1).
  • Background Keyboard Typing Sound -- Controls the volume of keyboard sounds (0 to 1).

Toggle Rate the Call Survey

Enable or disable the "Rate the Call" survey. When enabled, callers are asked to rate their call experience after the conversation ends.

Click Toggle Rate the Call Survey to see the current status (Enabled or Disabled) and toggle it.

Live Intake Tickets

When enabled, intake tickets are created immediately when intake forms are completed during calls, instead of waiting until the call ends. This gives you faster access to submitted information.

Click Live Intake Tickets to toggle it on or off. The current status is shown as a badge (Enabled or Disabled).

SMS Fallback for Voice Recognition

When the AI has trouble understanding voice input, it can ask the caller to send the information via text message instead. This helps ensure accurate data collection even when voice recognition is challenging.

Click SMS Fallback for Voice Recognition to toggle it on or off. The current status is shown as a badge (On or Off).

Auto Hangup after interaction ends

When enabled, the AI automatically ends the call when the interaction is clearly over. This helps avoid unnecessary call duration and reduces costs.

Click Auto Hangup after interaction ends to toggle it on or off. The current status is shown as a badge (On or Off).

Auto Hangup after silence

Automatically end the call when the caller is silent for a specified duration. The value is displayed in minutes (up to 3 minutes).

Click Auto Hangup after silence to adjust the silence timeout.

Idle Messages

Configure messages that your AI receptionist says when the caller has not responded for a period of time. This can prompt the caller to continue the conversation or let them know the AI is still on the line.

Click Idle Messages to configure.

Time Control

Define specific time windows during which calls are automatically transferred to another number instead of being handled by the AI. This is useful for routing calls to a live person during business hours.

Click Time Control to open the Time Controls modal. Each rule has a Start Time, End Time, and Phone Number to transfer to.

Pronunciation Guides

Teach your AI receptionist how to pronounce specific words. This is helpful for business names, product names, or industry terms that the AI might mispronounce.

Click Pronunciation Guides to open the configuration table. Each entry has a Word and its corresponding Pronunciation.

Max Usage Limit

Set a maximum usage limit (in minutes) for your AI receptionist. When your usage reaches 50%, 75%, or 100% of the limit, you receive an email notification. This helps you stay on top of your billing.

Click Max Usage Limit to open the Set Maximum Usage Limit modal. The current status is shown as a badge (Enabled or Disabled).

Maximum Call Duration

Set the maximum call duration (in minutes) before the AI automatically hangs up. The current value is displayed next to the setting.

Click Maximum Call Duration to adjust the limit.

Blocked Numbers

Maintain a list of phone numbers that are blocked from calling your receptionist. Blocked numbers will not be answered by the AI.

Click Blocked Numbers to view and manage the list.

Bot Block Phrases

Configure phrases that, when detected, automatically identify and block spam or bot callers. This helps reduce unwanted calls.

Click Bot Block Phrases to open the configuration modal.

Bypass To Human Numbers

Define a list of phone numbers that should skip the AI entirely and be transferred directly to a target number. This is useful for VIP callers or internal staff who should always reach a human.

Click Bypass To Human Numbers to view and manage the list.

Landline Number SMS Prompt

When a caller is on a landline (which cannot receive SMS), the AI cannot send text messages. This setting lets you configure what the AI says instead when it would normally send a text.

Click Landline Number SMS Prompt to configure the spoken prompt.

Robo Call Detection

Enable robocall detection to automatically identify and block spam calls from reaching your receptionist. This reduces unnecessary charges and keeps your billing efficient.

Click Robo Call Detection to toggle it on or off. The current status is shown as a badge (On or Off).

SMS Bot Spammers

View and manage a list of numbers that have been detected as SMS bots and blocked from SMS interactions with your receptionist.

Click SMS Bot Spammers to view the list.

Temporary Disable

Temporarily disable your AI receptionist without deleting any configuration. When disabled, you can choose to either:

  • Forward calls to a specific phone number, or
  • Play a hangup message that callers hear before the call ends.

This setting is marked as a Danger zone because it stops your receptionist from answering calls.

Click Temporary Disable to configure.

Zapier Integration

Connect your AI receptionist to other apps through Zapier. This allows you to automate workflows such as adding new contacts to your CRM, sending notifications to Slack, or creating tasks in your project management tool.

Click Zapier Integration and then View Details to open the Zapier configuration panel.

Tips

  • Start with the default AI model and only switch if you have a specific reason.
  • Enable call recording if you want to review conversations for quality assurance.
  • Use pronunciation guides for any proper nouns your AI mispronounces.
  • Set a max usage limit to avoid unexpected charges.
  • Use the "Temporary Disable" feature when you need to take your receptionist offline briefly (for example, during maintenance or staff training).
