Custom Objects and Saved Views
Custom objects let you track records beyond contacts in your CRM, such as properties, vehicles, jobs, or projects. Each object type has its own fields and its own set of records. Saved views let you store filters and pipelines as one-click chips so you can jump back to them anytime.
If you don't see the object type tabs in your CRM, custom objects aren't enabled for your account yet. Contact support to request access.
Object type tabs
When custom objects are enabled, a row of tabs appears at the top of the CRM page:
- Contacts -- your default contact list.
- One tab per custom object type you have created, each with its own icon.
- New Object -- creates a new object type.
Click a tab to switch between your contacts and each object type's records. Right-click a custom object tab to Edit or Delete that object type.
Creating an object type
- Click New Object in the tab row.
- In the Create New Object Type modal, enter an Object Name (at least 2 characters) and an optional description.
- Pick an icon for the tab.
- Define the object's fields. Each field has a name (e.g., status, priority) and a type:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Text | Free-form text |
| Number | Numeric values |
| Yes/No | A true/false value |
| Date | Calendar dates |
| Pick from list | A dropdown with options you define (e.g., Active, Pending) |
- Save the modal. The new object type appears as a tab immediately.
You can add or change fields later: select the object's tab, then click Fields & Schema. The Import button also adapts to the selected object type (e.g., "Import Propertys" becomes the import action for a Property object), and Export downloads the latest records as CSV.
Editing and deleting object types
- Edit -- right-click the object's tab and choose Edit to rename it, update the description, or change the icon.
- Delete -- right-click and choose Delete. Deleting an object type removes its records, so confirm carefully.
Saved views
Below the CRM tabs, the Saved views row shows chips for every view you have saved:
- All -- the unfiltered list. Click it to clear the active view.
- Filter views (funnel icon) -- saved filter combinations.
- Pipeline views (columns icon) -- saved pipeline board configurations.
- Views created by outbound campaigns carry an Outbound Task badge and cannot be deleted from this row.
Click a chip to apply that view. Click the x on a chip to delete it (a confirmation dialog appears).
Creating a filter view
- Click the Filters button in the actions bar. The Create Filter View panel slides open.
- Enter a View Name.
- Build one or more rule groups. Within a group, pick a field, an operator, and a value for each condition; conditions in the same group are combined with AND. Click Add Group to add another group.
- Click Apply Filters to preview the results, or Save View to store it as a chip in the Saved views row.
To change a saved filter view later, open it, click Filters again, adjust the rules, and click Update View.
Creating a pipeline view
When you configure a pipeline (a board grouped by a dropdown field), the pipeline modal offers Create + save view (or Save as view when editing). This stores the pipeline as a chip so you can reopen the board with one click.
Linking objects to customers
Object records can be linked to customer records, so a caller's record shows the properties, jobs, or vehicles that belong to them.
From a customer record
- Open the customer's detail view and find the Related Records section.
- Click the Link record button (the plus icon).
- In the Link Object to [customer] modal, choose an Object Type, then search by name to find the record.
- Click Link next to the record. Already-linked records are marked Linked.
Linked records appear in the Related Records section with their type and link date. Click one to jump to the object's record.
From an object record
Open the object's detail view. Its Related Records section lists linked customers and related objects, with a Link Record button to add more. To unlink a customer, hover over their row and click the X that appears.
Boards and pipelines for custom objects
Each object type can have its own pipeline fields, separate from your contact pipelines. In the board view for an object type, the dropdown in the actions bar offers:
- All [Type]s -- the ungrouped board
- Pipelines -- pipelines created for this object type
- Schema fields -- any "pick from list" fields, with one column per option
- + Create pipeline -- opens the pipeline modal for this object type
Records drag between columns just like contacts on a pipeline board. See Pipelines for stages, probabilities, and amount fields.
Tips
- One view per workflow -- save a view for each recurring task, like "Uncontacted leads" or "Overdue jobs," instead of rebuilding filters every time.
- Keep object schemas small -- start with the few fields you actually need. You can always add more from Fields & Schema.
